2016-02-10 · The zonal mode with a period of two to four years is driven by the Bjerknes feedback (in the following abbreviated as BF) (Ruiz-Barradas et al. 2000; Keenlyside and Latif 2007; Janssen et al. 2008), whereas the meridional mode on decadal time scales (Zebiak 1993; Carton et al. 1996; Xie and Carton 2004, e. g.) arises through the wind evaporation sea surface temperature (WES) feedback (Chang et al. 1997).

Post-Launch Research High-Resolution Benthic Mg/Ca Temperature Record of the Intermediate Water in the Denmark Strait Across Dansgaad-Oeschger Stadial-Interstadial Cycles. Sessford et al. have performed a high-resolution, multi-proxy analysis of the sediment core GS15-198-36CC and recently published their results. Feedback is a key component of the principles of interaction design, because…it's central to how we gain experience, and learn from our interactions.…Our interactions should lead to perceivable, noticeable feedback, and when we…understand it, we learn from it.…We use this information to learn, and practice, and get better, and we take what we…learn, and apply it in other situations Human participants adapted rhythmic movements between two targets to visuomotor rotations, the amplitudes of which changed randomly from cycle to cycle (the duration of one cycle was ∼400 ms). A system identification technique revealed that the motor adaptation was affected not just by the preceding movement error, but also by a history of errors from the previous cycles.

feedback, Edmond et al. (1995) and Bickle (1996) assumed that increases in global degassing are eventually matched by increases in CO 2 uptake via enhanced weathering accompanying mountain uplift. We show here that in this case, atmospheric CO 2 would vary untenably as a result of large imbal-ances in the carbon cycle. CARBON MASS BALANCE

Bjerknes was part of a group of meteorologists led by his father, Vilhelm Bjerknes, at the University of Leipzig. Together they developed the model that explains the generation, intensification and ultimate decay (the life cycle) of mid-latitude cyclones, introducing the idea of fronts , that is, sharply defined boundaries between air masses.

ENSO variability, the annual cycle, and the climatic mean state are all strongly controlled by the Bjerknes feedback (Bjerknes 1969). For an appropriate representation of all three, it is likely that more effort has to be put forward to incorporate important processes that have not been taken into consideration so far.

By 2100, the ocean uptake rate of 5 Gt C yr(-1) is balanced by the terrestrial carbon source, and atmospheric CO2 concentrations are 250 p.p.m.v. higher in our fully coupled simulation than in uncoupled carbon models, resulting in a global-mean warming of 5.5 K, as compared to 4 K without the carbon-cycle feedback.

We have undergone something of a marking and feedback transformation over the last 6 or 7 years in the UK. Gone are the days of “ticking and flicking” along with simple “well done” comments (and rightly so). Feedback occupies one of the highest impact spots according to John Hattie’s, feedback, Edmond et al.
